Christy Linton

Painter

Christy Linton is an American painter with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree whose creative journey has been shaped by a diverse upbringing and extensive travel. Living along the Pacific Coast for over 20 years, Christy has developed a deep connection to the tranquil ocean, which she captures in her art. Her process begins with a calm color palette, often adding texture using recycled materials, paper, clay, netting, fabrics, and acrylic mediums. The subjects of her paintings evolve intuitively or are planned from memories, photos, or commissions. She incorporates sand and ocean water into her work, creating a tangible connection to her primary muse, the sea. Christy's technique blends conventional and nonconventional tools, layering mediums such as ink, acrylic wash, pastel, oil stick, and gold or silver leaf. Her return to art was a transformative journey, turning suffering into meaningful expression, leading to a fulfilling life of art therapy and gratitude. Inspired by the ocean and nature, Christy uses sustainable products like recycled materials, sustainably sourced fibers, and water-based inks and paints to minimize the need for harsh solvents.

Artist Statement: "Each and every step of my process I am in an attempt to soothe the soul. So my greatest hope is for you to find that place of serenity, to escape and to wonder”
